PSL final: Clash of ICC Cricketer of the Year vs ICC T20I Cricketer of the Year

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) will conclude tonight after a whole month of thrilling clashes in the tournament.

Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars have made it to the grand final of the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) marquee event after 33 matches.

Tonight's final between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars will be a clash between ICC Cricketer of the Year — Shaheen Shah Afridi vs ICC T20I Cricketer of the Year — Mohammad Rizwan.

Pakistan fast bowler and Lahore Qalandars' skipper Shaheen Afridi was declared as the ICC Cricketer of the Year by the ICC after an exceptional performance in 2021, especially in the T20 World Cup 2021.

"He especially had a year to remember in Tests and T20Is, reaching his peak during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in UAE where he impressed one and all with his sheer speed and skills," said the ICC.

Meanwhile, Pakistan wicket-keeper batter and Multan Sultans' skipper Mohammad Rizwan was declared as T20I Cricketer of the year for 2021.

Rizwan was Pakistan's and the world's top performer in the shortest format of the game. Aggregating a staggering 1326 runs in only 29 matches, Rizwan struck at an average of 73.66 and a strike rate of 134.89.

"The Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter ruled the roost in 2021 when it came to the shortest format of the game," said the ICC.

The two star players will go head to head tonight in a high-voltage final clash of the seventh edition of the PSL.
