According to Careem, it became aware on 14 January of this year that Cyber criminals gained access to their computer. The affected computers contained data of their customers and captains. The ride hailing service further explained that the customers and captains who joined us after this date aree not affected.
Careem further said that:
As soon as we detected the breach, we launched a through investigation and engaged leading cybersecurity experts to assist us in strengthening our security system. We are also working with law enforcement agencies.
The company said that the customers privacy and security is more important for the company. But this time was not enough to prevent the attack. After the attack, Careem is still operating normal across the region.
